Introduction of Yagya / Vedic Yagya / Yajna / Yagnya

"Ved Bhawan's Pandits are in groups. Every group has its own speciality and is led by a Scholar Pandit "

 What is Yagya ?

The Sanskrit word Yagya is originated from the Sanskrit verb - YAJ = to do fire sacrifice. Yagya is in fact a combination of rituals recommended by Veda and Vedic Scriptures. These rituals include Hawan or Fire Sacrifice, Japa or Recite of a particular quantity (like 125000 times) of a Particular Mantra which is either from Veda or from a scripture derived from Veda. These Vedic Mantras are perfect in rhythm and therefore very effective in generating fast energies for the purpose that help targeted person to get healedor helped by nature. Apart from these, a Yagya contains donation to Pandits & recommended needy people, Puja (worship), Prayers, Brahmanbhoj (Letting Pandits and cows eat). But a Yagya with VED BHAWAN means a combination of these many normal rituals and is specially combined for a particular (positive) purpose. Therefore, A Yagya with us is always many more times bigger and capable, than Normal Yagyas which are done traditionally, specially when its for remedy purpose. Besides this, Ved Bhawan combines different mantras in different ways to make certain influence for a purpose exactly like we combine 4 colours C, M, Y and K in different ways and make 16 million coulors.

It has moreover scholar inspectors who inspect each Yagyas to make sure if everyhting is being performed as per the norms.

 Yagya in Vedic Scriptures ?

Prof. Dr. Harihar Trivedi - A Head Pandit at Ved Bhawan

Sankalp - As every sound exists in this universe, naturally this sound also moves in the universe and influences the person for whom the Yagya is being performed. We call it Sankalp. In Sankalp we individualize the effect of Yagya and Mantra. In this Sankalp, The Pandit speaks the person’s name, gotra and all particulars including birth details to make him unique. In other words, Sankalp is like an address to be written on a letter.

Hawan - In hawan, the Pandit or host puts some specific materials in fire for many thousands of times after speaking a particular mantra for a particular purpose. It gives an energy to the attending person as well as believably also to God to maintain his entire creation. Scientifically, the hawan materials purify the atmosphere as well as these help in bringing rain.

Aarti – A ritual done by Deepak moving around God, taking his obstructions away (in fact, we pray God also as friend, father, child & Guru). In all these emotions, we take care of his problems too. Normally we sing his prayer while doing aarti. Om Jay Jagadish Hare.. is a popular prayer.

Japa – It is recite of a mantra. These mantras can be either Vedic or from Puran and have their particular results. One mantra has sometimes more applications. For example, Mahamrityunjay Mantra has 7 applications – Rananjaya (victory), Dhananjaya (wealth), Shatrunjaya (Enemy), Mritunjaya (Danger), Vyadhinjaya (Illness), Aadhinjaya (Psychics), Kalanjaya (Short longevity)

Stotra - Path – Path is the reading prayers of God / goddesses for particular purposes. These paths contain several or several thousands of Vedic Verses and can take 1 to 1000 minutes depending upon the application of rituals. Normally Pandits read it from books but some people know it by tong. A Stotra is normally the prayer of a particular god for a particular purpose. For example Lord Shiva has hundreds of prayers, some for being prosperous, some for getting married and some for saving life.

Pictures - Close Up -   Veda-Path
Upper picture - Hawan, middle - Aarti
Bottom - Jap

Ohm -  The symbol of God. Contains the power of all Gods & Goddesses. Praying Ohm is more than sufficient to eliminate problems and sins. This sound must be chanted before every mantra for complete effect.

Yagya-Shala – The Place where the Yagya is performed.  Normally its made exclusively for Hawans and kept clean and pure. A deep, called – Hawan Kund, is ready here for Hawan.

Kalash –   The Waterpot and symbol of Welfare. Lord Ganesha & Varun is worshipped on Kalash and Kalash Puja is compulsory in every ritual. Big rituals have more than 1 kalash.

Deepak - The symbol of light and way to enlightenment. In every ritual Deepak is burnt and sacrificed to all worshipped gods / goddesses.

Tulsi - Also called as Vrinda. Wife of Lord Vishnu and giver of prosperity. Every Hindu family has a Tulsi plant in courtyard. Symbol of Vrinda and prayed in every ritual.

Yantra –   A magnetic diagram which attracts magnetic energy. Yantras are put in the rituals for better results. After the ritual, these Yantras can be beared for better results of Yagya. See more details about yantra at - www.jantarmantar.com

Hawan - – Fire sacrifice with a particular Mantra for a particular purpose. A word ‘Swahaa’ automatically comes at the end of Mantra. Hawan generates huge quantity of energy for the person for whom it is done.

Shankha - Blowing Sankha in a Yagya is very traditional and meaningful. First it gives the listeners energy to feel strong and better, in the other hand it makes more energy than normal frequency (20-20000 hz) of sound energy which reaches instant effect to the person who hears it.

Yagya is The Most Effective Remedy

For a remedy purpose Yagya is most influential. There are three energy sources in this universe - Light, Sound & Magnet. Light is very good system but it has limitation; it can't reach beyond the wall or a non-transparent medium. Magnet is also very effective but it needs a metallic-medium to pass it's energy through. But the sound is everywhere reachable that's why it has been used most. As Mantra is based on sound system, it guarantees the best effect of Yagya. Moreover the Yagya is absolutely natural process and thus peaceful and long-lasting too. The most important benefit of Yagya is that it is 100% positive. It means, it shall give result in any case, whether 99% or 40% but always positive. It never gives negative result. One more benefit of Yagya is, that, it has no reverse effect even you do wrong Yagya; because, in every Yagya (at least with Ved Bhawan, others practice tantra too on name of Yagya) only Vedic Mantras are chanted and spiritual rituals are performed. Reversely, if you chant a Tantrik Mantra in wrong / incorrect method, you get reverse influence.  Therefore a Yagya can be called - FOOLPROOF. Not only this, in case if you do not to see the expected benefit of Yagya, still it's a devotion and donation and has eternal influence for your soul and karma. This is the most important reason why we choose Yagya to promote as remedy because more or less, correct or incorrect, however you do, it has always result and positive result. This is the reason why Yagya was 10000 years ago too popular and now too is popular.

However Yagya is not an alternative of any traditional or scientific solutions, but when you have no worldly solution, you need support of God and that happens by yagya !

Why Donation ??

Donation - In yagya we give donation. According to Geeta -
"Dhanasya trirgati bhavet - danam, bhogam va nasham"

Meaning,
the wealth has only three destinations - Either you consume it, or you donate it, if you can't do any of these, then it will we  automatically destroyed. Indian philosophy also says - 'Good to get, better to give'. In Yagya we donate for such purposes or also without a purpose; but here it is very important to donate only to a good candidate. Good candidate means - A Pandit who is well educated in Veda, good character and devotee of god.

Yagya at Ved Bhwan International®

To regularise this most beneficial system of Yagya, Ved Bhawan International is running a division - Vedic Yagya Programme. The Vedic Yagya Programme has panels of Veda Acharya (Post Graduates of Veda) who have studied Veda in the universities in India and who are qualified and experienced Brahmins. Moreover we train them with our system to perform the best Yagya. Every team has a group of 9 Pandits who can perform the Yagya alone or together. At present, Vedic Yagya Programme, Ved  Bhawan, Ved Bhawan International and affiliated partners have 37 Yagya centres in India at different places or pilgrims and 6 Yagya Centres in abroad. With these Yagya Centres with the several groups of Pandits and with help of local partners, Vedic Yagya Programme helps people in about 137 major countries of the world.

Difference between Puja & Yagya

Puja - A Puja is a ritual where of course mantra is also recited and fire sacrifice is also done, but all are voluntarily. It means you are not bound by the regulations and the quantity of mantras. You can chant a mantra either 108 times or 125000 times, you are not bounded to do an amount. Moreover, Puja is mostly done for general development and to be prosperous in future and for spiritual development. It thas no certain target or expectation.
Yagya - It has certain target and certain procedure which must be completed exactly to get the result. The result of Yagya is mostly experienceable and definite. You do a Yagya for a particular purpose and the Pandits are bounded with the rules of Yagya. The Mantra quantity is very high and is a must.
Technically a Puja can be understood as a vaccination to prevent a future disease which may appear after 10-20 years. And a Yagya is like a surgery or operation that needs to be done immediately for survival or for achieving succeses. You can't expect a particular result after doing a Puja while with Yagya you can expect it. A Puja is normally 2-3% part of a Yagya.

Yagya is like an umbrella. It however can't stop rainfall but
it can definitely save you from getting wet.

Types of Yagyas

Yagya can be devided in 2 groups -
i.. Nishkaam (without intention) or

Nishkaam Yagyas are very broad. For example, devotion or our regular prayers, agriculture and education all these are one or another kind of Yagyas. For example if you are a teacher, you give knowledge, so it is called Gyan Yagya. The basic symptom is that these Yagyas have no certain desires for doing this and become fruitful after a long time in an uncertain manner which you can't identify. For example if you give a donation, you get this money or perhaps more back in shape of profit in your business or a discount in a purchase. If you study, or if you teach, you get helped by that knowledge in a certain situation. Only thing is that you can't expect immediate or certain result by these Yagyas.
ii. Sakaam (with intention)

Oppositely you have a problem and you wan help, or you have certain desire and you want to fulfil that, than you do Yagyas for intentions or Sakaam Yagya. These Yagyas too have 4 types -

1. Planetary
Yagyas
- This Yagya helps you minimizing evil influences of the planets to survive in a period with un-favorable planets. However a planetary Yagya doesn’t help for all puposes. For example, it will minimize evil energy from the time the Yagya starts, but can’t remove the influences those you already have collected in last years and due to which many problems are being arose. In other words, planetary Yagya helps you for prevention of negativity from the time of start but are not meant for healing problems, or to support for success or achievments. For these purposes we need Specific or intentional Yagyas. Some people believe that they can make planets happy, but we rely on scientific Vedic theories in which noone is special for the planets. We do Planetary Yagya not to make them happy but to apply a filter for evil enery around us. Planets are too big for us to manipulate.
2.  Yagya for Prevention - These Yagyas are to prevent any danger that you feel or see in coming future or it is predicted by your astrologer. For example, you have symptoms of a severe deases and you can think towards death, you see some legal issue and you can see some punishment or arrest in future, you are feeling or seeing some economic crisis in future or your astrologer sees coming danger or problem in your life. In all these situations we do Yagya for prevention. These Yagyas first try to avoid this danger and if the danger is driven by your strong bad karma which can't be totally averted, then the Yagya softens the pain, minimizes the dangers and gives you strength to tolerate and survive in the dangers. So you are assured about your survival without having worse consequences.
3. Yagyas for Cure -
In your whole life you have collected several bad things those occure as problems and dangers in your life. For example you collect evil energies of your negative planets, your bad deeds, the curses of your family, gods and anyone whom you might have reached pain. All these get collected in your life and become fruitful without being minimized or destroyed. A Yagya for prevention helps you that you shouldn't be attacked by those bad karma's from the starting of Yagyas but what about those evil karma's of your earnings in past ? We use for this purpose - Yagya for cure. For example, you have already a desease or may be you are being obstructed for being married or for getting child. So these problems have already begun and we need to cure these problems. In this situation we need Yagyas for cure.
4. Yagyas for Desires -
These Yagyas are performed for fulfilling your desires. For example, you want a higher post or higher income or you want to buy your dream home. You do Yagya for help in fulfulling these desires. For example, you want to buy a house and that costs $400,000 but you have only $250,000. now you need to arrange the rest $150,000 and for that you probably ask your friends or perhaps you would take a loan. Exactly same, to achive something you need good karma and when you have less good karma, you can;t achive that. For example you have 60% good karma to achive a post or a property. Now you do Yagya to generate 40% more karma so that you should be able to achive that desire. But desire and dram will not say that you can desire anything. For example, if you are a minister and you want to be prime minister then it is a reasonable or possible desire. But being just a public if you desire to be a prime minister, then it is overambition and Yagya too will not help for this. You will say now, every prime minister has been a public. It is true, but then go step by step. Like do Yagya for being a minister of low level, and when successful then do it for high leven minister, and then too successful then do it for being prime minister. In this way you see Yagya can do all but with right application.

How Planetary Yagya influences us

Planets are neither your enemies nor your friends. Nor can you make them friend. They also don't come after you to bother you. In fact we have negative and positive, permanent or temporary role of each planet on our lives. A planet which gives you income may be your killer planet too. In a horoscope you can see which planet has been assigned for which task of your life and this changes in everyone's case. Now a planet can be favoring for something and against for another things and this sutation has influence of 2 planetary situations - Permanent - which is based upon your planets at your birth-time and temporary which depends on present planetary positions and the behavoir of that planet in both the situations.
Now these planets rule us by 3 energies - light, sound and magnet. So depending upon the horoscope and situation, we receive both - negative and positive - energies of each planets and put ourselves in good or bad situations. A Yagya for planet, sharpens our absorbing capability for good energies and minimizes negative absorbing capability so that we receive less negative energies. So by good energies you remain normal (not progressing) and by less negative energies you can tolerate the pain and survive in wrong situations. Again a planet which has sometimes more power to force its negative energy for deserving people, can't reach it's negative energies fully as Yagya makes a resonanse protection circle around you that filters the negative energies and protects. you.
But in this whole story, a planet can either bother you or not bother you, but anyhow can't help you for anything. That you must manage yourself eventually by your efforts plus intentional Yagyas.

How birthday Yagya influences us

Planets are neither your enemies nor your friends. Nor can you make them friend.

Some Interesting facts about Yagyas ?
  • Dasharath, the king had no child even from 3 wives. He was advised by Sage Vashishtha to do Yagya for son. Shringi was the head pandit of that Yagya. After Yagya Dashrath got 4 sons - Ram, Lakshman, Bharat & Shatrughna (Ramayan)

  • Ram and Ravan both were doing Yagyas to win but finally Ram won. Remember, if both the parties have Yagyas, the winner is whose devotion or whose yagya is more powerful and who is on truth.

  • Rajsuya Yagyas or Ashwamesh Yagyas were normally done by the kings. These were to prove, to establish and energize the kingdom

  • Some people talk about Narmedh (Yagya in which men are killed and sacrificed) - but it is not true. It is nowehere written in Veda, but is just a fantacy

  • Janamejaya - The son of King Parikshit - had done - Nagayagya- the Yagya where snakes were sacrificed. This yagya was neither for remedy, nor for devotion. It was for revenge because his father was biten by a snake. This yagya is overall criticized.

  • Decades ago, Yagyas were organized by some organizations in India or abroad. The intention behind these Yagyas were to prove manpower and group strength. These were never precized, complete or methodic but just a simple part of a puja or mantra was multiplied by many people of the folk who were far away from the meaning of Yagyas and mantras. They couln't speak even 1 mantra correctly. For example, we saw some Yagyas by Shanti Kunj Haridwar (an anti-brahmin organization) which were namely Gayatri Yagya but the ladies of villages participated in those yagya who never knew Gayatri Mantra.

  • Ved Bhawan started doing Yagya for individuals openly and publically from 1997 and thereafter many other people (specially unemployed Pandits) started to sell Yagyas for their bread-butter. However many of them are just non-existing, but there is one benefit - more or less, correct or incorrect but everyone in India and many people in abroad are trying to do some Yagya. Now even the companies are utilizing this field for their business and sending/collecting donations.

We are obliged to do regular Yagyas

Like any other machinary, nature is also a machinary which is the most complex. Any machinary needs fuel to move and keep moving. Likewise nature too needs fuel or energy and we do Yagya for this. If we don't do this, the nature gets less energy and that causes several failures and natural disasters. Exactly like that, a government collects taxes to mainatin the country. Some of we honest people pay taxes on which the country moves and there are some who don't pay or don't pay honestly. They also get caught, and when they are caught, the losses and complications are bigger. In this story, the government is nature, the represenatives are planets, gods, the taxes are donation and we are the folk.
